About Simon
Simon’s journey with the violin began at the age of seven in 1966, sparking a lifelong passion for both music and the craftsmanship behind fine stringed instruments.
As a violinist himself, Simon has a deep understanding of what players need from their instruments. This insight allows him to approach each repair, restoration, and setup with a musician’s perspective – ensuring comfort, responsiveness, and tonal quality that meet each player’s unique requirements.
In addition to his restoration work, Simon offers a selection of carefully maintained instruments for sale.
Pulchra Strings, his workshop, is based in Tonbridge, Kent – easily accessible by road and rail, and just 40 minutes from central London. Here, Simon continues to blend artistry, precision, and a lifetime of musical experience to help instruments, and their players, reach their fullest potential.
